Good Purchase (2009-01-08)
I am quite surprised by all of the mixed reviews for the Didj learning system. I purchased this Didj system and my 8 year old son(3rd grade) has thoroughly enjoyed the system. It is true that Christmas morning I could not sync the product with the Internet, but within a few days this issue was resolved. I do disable the firewall associated with my computer (Dell XP) and then the interface with the Leapfrog Learning system seems to work well. Leapfrog has tried to find a balance between education and gaming, a balance that is not easy to determine. I do wish that is was more focused upon education, but my 8 year old son does spend hours playing it. He enjoys earning points and buying things for the game via the Internet, and I do receive e-mails from Leapfrog that describes his progress. I also purchased the carrying case, and I have not had problems with the case flying open - it was initially a little tricky for my son to open it, but he has gotten the hang of it. The screen on the Didj is easily scratched and even though he is quite carefully a screen protector is probably a good investment. The range of games he seems to enjoy, Spongebob, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Nick Tunes, Fosters Imaginary Friend, etc. I do think that this is a good product, and have been surprised by other reviewers who have reported such a bad experience. I did purchase the black Star Wars edition of this product so maybe this might account for some of the difference. Can't wait til the new improved recharger is re-released as this does really go through double A batteries. I am planning to purchase the Leapfrog Crammer as he needs more help with learning multiplication tables.

Fantastic (2008-12-17)
This is a great next step after the regular leapster. The games are more advanced for further learning, and the ability to download to it is GREAT!

Kid Galaxy Interactive Radio-Controlled Bumper Car Set (2009-01-08)
My boy, who is 4 years old, enjoys it a lot. Even his daddy has a lot of fun with it. It's a litttle bit hard to manoeuvre the cars, but I think with time it is possible to learn. I think it's pretty durable. My "boys" played with it for a couple of weeks almost non stop and it is still ok. The only down side is that the cars and the controllers require a lot of batteries. But... We love this toy!

Rocking Bumper Cars :) (2008-12-31)
From the minute they came out of the box these cars rocked. My nephews loved them (4yr and 9yr) . I was still tryin got get the batteries into everything and the kids were already playing with them, pushing the lil button on the side blasting the little figures into the air. Once I put the batteries in (it is alot of batteries 3 in the cars two in each remote but well worth it) the fun really began. The boys had them driving all wild in circles and across the room trying to figure out how to control the fast little beasts. (One button for forward back, one for left right) We kept hitting the chairs and other things in the kitchen and the little guys kept getting ejected flying through the air. The kids were laughing up a storm because nobody could keep their guy in the car. After a lil bit of experimenting they figured out how to drive and then the wars began, they would drive and angle and try to figure out how to block the other in so they were lined up for that perfect slam in to the other guys eject button. They were laughing and screaming and have a fantastic time showing grandma and momma how they could blast each other's lil men into the air making for a wondeful christmas for all.

super fun, but burns the batteries! (2008-12-23)
We all loved this toy but the battery life on them is pretty limited. We found steering them to be fine and everyone loved it when the driver of the bumped care was ejected. We found the toy to be very durable.

"Smart Builder" Blocks Create Music Fun and Learning
The Smart Builder Piano features a piano-style keyboard with eight oversized keys that are perfect for little hands. It comes with seven "Smart Builder" blocks: three song blocks, three instrument blocks, and one "beat" block. These blocks can be stacked on the keyboard's three prongs.

Without the Smart Builder blocks, the keyboard plays with a piano sound. But if you connect the xylophone or electric guitar block, the keyboard will generate those instrument sounds. Stack on a song block -- "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Old McDonald," or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" -- and the keyboard will play that song. Press the "play" button to hear the song in its entirety, or your child can play the song herself on the keyboard. The piano will play the song regardless of which keys are pressed, which makes it exciting and easy for your child to experiment with the song's rhythm and tempo. With the "beat" block, a fun percussion beat is added to the arrangement.

Over 100 Different Configurations
We especially like how the toy lends itself to fun experimentation, with the ability to create over 100 musical arrangements by stacking the Smart Builder blocks in different configurations. Kids can experiment with stacking up a song and two musical instruments; two songs and all the instruments; or even put all of the Smart Builder blocks together to hear what happens.

We also like that kids have the option of creating their very own music. Our two-year-old tester naturally started playing the keyboard and was delighted with making her own sounds. The only problem was that some keys on our test keyboard were prone to sticking, which made it a bit difficult, though by no means impossible, for her to play with complete ease.

The Smart Builder Piano also gives older kids a fun introduction to "reading" music. The instructions include the sheet music for one song, which is written in color-coded notes to correspond with the keyboard keys. The keyboard is also compatible with MegaBlocks toys. Your child can incorporate the keyboard into her MegaBlocks building, or she can play with the keyboard on its own. We really like the sheet music and color-coded keys, but we wish that more sheet music was available. If it's available online, we couldn't find it.

The Smart Builder Piano requires no adult assembly. It comes with 4 AA batteries, but you'll get better functionality if you install fresh ones before play.

There should be a compartment or pouch for the blocks when not in use to keep the items together. It is not easy to store when stackable.

Different sounds are kind of hard to distinguish, sound sort of similar (2009-01-01)
We got this for about $17 on Amazon. I wouldn't pay more than that personally. I saw it go down to $13 shortly after I bought it for a short time during Christmas. I Bought mega bloks to go with it, it's cute and sturdy but the different music blocks sound sort of similar and the playback feature is lost on my 1 year old, my 4 year old picks it up more than my 1 year old. I personally find it slightly lame. We built legs for the piano with mega bloks like in the picture but my 1 year old just broke it right down...I'm sure he'll be more into it when he is 2 and 3.

My 18 month old grandchild enjoyed the toy, as well as her 3 and 5 year old sisters. My only regret is that like most toys now, it's made of plastic instead of wood.

fun and educational (2008-11-11)
This toy combines all the fun parts about being a kid - building, making music, knocking it down and starting over again! It is great for creativity and also motor skills. My neice likes to change the instruments to create different sounds. Overall this is a lot of toy for the price and the as an added bonus it works with the other blocks she already has from mega.

I really like this instrument for the price. It comes with almost 2 octaves, with no middle tones (# or b). but is a good start for kids. I really love it. I have to be with my 2 1/2 y/o Son while he plays with it because he can destroy any toy, then I better be careful sometimes and save it for later.

Trading Spaces Fun! - Just like the show (2004-09-22)
I am a huge fan of the Trading Spaces show. So when i found out there was a Trading Spaces doll house i could share with my daughter, i had to buy it. And it was worth it! I purchased the Trading Spaces House & Dolls for my daughter (8) back in May, and she still loves it! I helped her put it together... I could even do it without my husbands help. The amazing part of this toy is that truly is one of a kind. My daughter loves all the parts included, especially the molding dough to make food for her kitchen. My other daughter (5) even tried to help her sister out by stamping all over the walls but to our suprise, it really did wash clean. There are so many activites involved in this toy that I must say it's the best toy i have bought for my kids in a few years.

Grandson loved it. (2008-11-24)
Purchased the tag reading system, along with this book for my Grandson's 5th birthday. He and his sister are limited to what they can watch on TV and movies, so this is something he could enjoy. He loved this!! Kept him busy in the car, and for hours on end. They have always been read to, so learning to read is a really big deal for him. Realize tho that it has to be downloaded on a computer, so they can't just open the box and start reading.

Surprised... (2008-12-15)
These puzzles were a hit with my 2 year old son for the simple fact it's the Power Rangers. I am only giving it 4 stars because I was surprised that the packaging is in a foreign language (Japanese??). If I was giving this as a gift to anyone but my son I probably would have returned it. The description should advise of the language. Of course there's not many instructions needed for a puzzle but other toys may be impossible to assembly or know the rules if it's not in English.

My daughter received this as a gift for her first birthday. She loves to sort the shapes and put them in the bucket. Very durable and worth the price. The reason for 4 stars is that the top comes off too easily.

My son is two years old and he just loves dumping out the pieces and trying to put the pieces into the proper holes. This toy keeps him amused for a long time. I would recommend this toy.

Great staple toy for babies (2008-12-08)
We bought this for my son when he was six months old. At that time he was just interested in chewing on the blocks and turning them over, but as he gets older (he is almost 11 months now) he finds more to do with the blocks. He throws them and chases after them, he bangs them on the floor, he puts them in the pail and dumps them out again and again... I am sure he will soon be working on putting them through the holes in the lid. This is a great basic toy to help babies learn about shapes and colors, as well as how shape affects how things turn or roll. My son has lots of fancy expensive toys, but he would rather have these blocks, a spatula, and a clean two liter bottle, and he can play for ages. My only complaint is that the blocks are impossible to keep together and we find them under the sofa and under the pack-n-play, and behind the chair- you get the idea. But that really isn't a solveable problem, I'm just whining, so the toy still gets 5 stars.

Wonderful toy! Awful price. (2008-12-01)
This is one of my infant daughters favorites, and it is super durable. She hasn't figured out how to sort yet, but she really enjoys looking at the blocks, banging them together, and knocking over towers that we build with them.
My only complaint is Amazon's price. I bought this for about [...] regular price instore at another retailer who's name I will not mention. It's a great toy [...]

leap pad (2008-07-21)
my now 4 year old son says this one is 'a bit of fun'. My friend's kids had broken the cartridge for one of their leap pad books so be aware. I think the Leap Pad system is terrific to stimulate little brains (it is also great to distract my son whilst he eats!)

More adult guidance needed...but fun (2005-09-13)
We have 5 other leappad books and this one is-okay, mediocre. My 3 year-old loves Bob the Builder so I was a little disappointed that he needs quite a bit of guidance on this one as the directions are more complicated, whereas the other ones he is fully independent in doing them. However, leappad is a good company and their graphics and character voices are always fun and engaging.

Wonderful! (2005-01-26)
My 3 year old son loves Bob the Builder, and has enjoyed learning to use his "My First Leap Pad" with Bob. The pictures are engaging and the games are easy to understand. We will definitely look for more Bob leap pad books!

Disappointing (2004-09-09)
My son (3 1/2) loves the characters in the First LeapPad book series, but doesn't really enjoy the LeapPad books. The pace is s-l-o-w. The orientation is instructional -- and not very fun. The system depends on the reader pressing a green "Go" button to identify which page is active. Every page is framed by a border that is reserved for the successively located "Go" buttons. This works fine until your little pre-reader zips the stylus over the full page looking for hidden treasures and triggers a "Go" button for a different page. Then everyone's confused. If your child is used to structured learning, they'll probably like this a lot. If your child is used to the pace and interactivity of computer software, save this until they have some preliminary reading skills.

My 2 year old loves this! (2003-12-31)
I bought my 2 year old son a My First Leap pad for Christmas. Out of all of the books he received he enjoys this one the most. He is not a fan of Bob the Builder and does not like the show on television, but he sure enjoys this product. There is a lot of praise and positive reinforcement. He loves to hear them cheer and tell him that he did a great job. If the games are too difficult, the book allows him to just touch the various pictures on the pages which make various sounds etc.

Don't do it...don't be a sucker (2008-12-04)
This is the worst toy ever. I have never felt so robbed since the idea of a healthy twinkie!
First off and very important...one cannot actually drum on this toy. My kid lost interest quickly.
the music is annoying. Constant. The toy tries to draw you in by talking and talking and talking until you hit it. This seems violent to me ^_^. but when you start to hit if you tilt it at all it will reset and the annoying voice starts all over again. The voice isn't annoying so much as needy.
It is surprisingly durable...but I would really rather a better toy.
I happen to have an earlier model and it is also durable not quite as annoying...I bought this one because it is bilingual but not worth it. Don't be a sucker...walk away

Great Baby Shower Gift (2008-11-30)
I bought this drum for my daughter when she was three months old. (I know she was a little young) She really started playing with it around six months old. She would use the drum to help her sit up. There is a song that the drum plays that she loves. She dances every time she hears it. I like how you can change the language from English to Spanish. Hopefully, it will help her learn her ABC's in both languages. My daughter loves it so much we have given it as a baby shower gift three times.

A little boring (2008-11-11)
this toy was good for my daughter when she was a baby and just beginning to walk and talk, but now she's bored of it. It was good for very basic play but as soon as she was ready for more advanced play (probably 1 year old) she became bored with it.

Just a personal peeve also, it constantly repeats the invitations to play, so prepared to have those drilled into your brain every time it's used.

Kinda Lame (2008-10-21)
The problem with this drum is that it's always playing music, on any of the three settings (except on one setting, but only when it's lying sideways?!), so a child cannot learn cause and effect: to associate his/her own beating on it with it making a sound.

Loads of fun and educational too! (2008-10-21)
My two year old got this for Christmas last year and has been enjoying it ever since. Very fun and educational too. Kids like to bang on things, so why not have the alphabet answer them!
